I need a "catch up" post,

but first....

you've started crying with some tears in your eyes.. enough to have the moist teary eyed look, but not enough to stream down your cheeks yet. I am NOT looking forward to that day... it will totally break my heart.

So THAT'S what all that sweatiness is about...

I've been feeling cool-ish come night time, and for convenience, nowadays I sleep on TOP of the covers instead of under them - nursing, changing etc etc... - with a couple of blankets on me, and would wake up all sweaty in the er, bosom area. Anyway, I was reading an article on Babyzone.com, and this is what it says.

Sweating: Why Am I Soaking the Sheets Each Night?

Sweating is one of your body's methods of getting rid of excess pregnancy fluid. While most moms experience night sweats, it is also common for lactating mothers to sweat between their breasts at any time. This is because breasts are basically modified sweat glands, so when a nursing woman's breasts are working overtime to create milk, the sweat glands around them work hard too. There's no way to stop the sweating, so just wear cool, absorbent clothes to bed and stuff a cloth diaper (which happens to make a handy burp cloth!) between your breasts. The dampness should subside by the end of the first month.

Baby's First Number ( or one of them.. )

Can you believe we received your social security number and little card in the mail a couple of days ago? And your momma, who has just gotten her green card in February, had to jump through all kinds of hoops, and there are still issues that need to be ironed out...

2 week weigh-in

We went to the pediatrician's office early this morning to see if you were gaining weight adequately. Your daddy and I were a little bit nervous as this was an early milestone to watch, and you do have quite the voracious appetite! And yes, I've also had my "I'm a terrible mother, I don't seem to be poducing quite as much as you need" days, so...

anway, most babies lose weight during their first week and then get back up to their birth weight by the time they are two weeks old

Your daddy was so nervous last night, he almost put you on the vegetable scales when we were grocery shopping.. :)

Playing Catch - up a.k.a. Day 10 of Life

How can so many things seem to have happened since we brought the baby home, and yet for some odd reason, the days and nights just meld into each other that I lose track of what day or time it is?

Both the hubs and I are sentimental about a lot of things, and since I'm Asian and have the "camera trigger happy" gene and the hubs did some photography work at some point, we've been taking umpteen photos of Jaxon, most of which still need to be uploaded from the camera .. I mean, the kid's been to church, to Walmart ( LOL ) and had his pic taken with the Easter Bunny, and even gone for his very first Taco Tuesday. :)I'm finding out that breastfed babies can have extremely ravenous appetites that strike about every couple of hours. I feel like I now have the boppy nursing pillow permanently attached to my waist. Also, because they are digesting just about everything they consume, they may not have much to poop, even if they have wet diaper every few hours.

I tried not to freak out when he didn't poop all of yesterday, and into this morning... but when he DID finally have a dirty diaper this afternoon, I couldn't help pumping my arms in the air and doing a little dance of joy.

David has been great taking up some of the slack by minding the baby when i have needed to do certain things. Last night I was on my last legs after having dealt with the baby all through the afternoon and evening, and at about midnight, I seriously thought I would just pass out from exhaustion. So david took over and that was a life saver.

I've had a couple of weepy, bluesy days in the beginning, when I was panicking about not knowing what to do with such a tiny baby, but David has been my rock, and allows me to just unload all this hormonally charged emotions on him... and as Val, another source of strength, tells me, "Take. Your. Time".

Babyness

I'm sorry I've been neglecting this for a few days, babyness... but we were busy welcoming you into this world and getting you better and better every day. You are such the darling and what a gorgeous baby you are, too :) When we get home and settled in, I'll tell you all about your first few days at the hospital. Right now, suffice to say daddy and I love you to BITS and that you are a perfect and wonderful little miracle from God for us :)
