We celebrated your half birthday at Taco Tuesday today, complete with a custom candle ( fashioned out of 3 candles and some McGyvering ), balloons from Dollar Tree and a store bought cake ( heh ). It was fun, though you were oblivious as to what was going on. You didn't even have a chance to try the cake! Well, we'll save that for your 1st birthday. :)

A cowboy needs a horse, needs a horse, needs a horse
You had your first "independent" shopping cart ride yesterday.. We didn't bring our shopping cart "protector" as it was an impromptu thing, but we wiped the cart down religiously ( heh! ). So off we went into the adventureland a.k.a. Dollar Tree ( where everything's a dollar, so don't ask why there are no price tags! )

Raspberries
You started trying to blow bubbles earlier this week - which can be just a little frustrating at meal times when I'm trying to feed you and you splatter it all over the place with your bubble blowing obsession, but adorable nonetheless - and you "mastered" it round about yesterday...
Voila, Mr. Spit-Boy himself....

That time of the month
When PMS strikes ( or at least I think that's what it is ).....
In fact, PMS or no PMS, that's how I feel a lot of days when I really need some mommy alone time. Bleh.

Milestones..
I mentioned in the post before, that you were rolling from tummy to back, and back to tummy.
For anyone interested, this next video is the 5 minutes' version of you rolling both ways :)
Jaxon rolling over from tummy to back, and back to tummy. Late Aug/Early Sept 2009
div>Well, this week you started sitting for quite a few minutes without support! I can really see you trying to keep your balance sometimes. You even did a "look ma, no hands!" last night. Pretty cool stuff.

How True
These are excerpts from this week's Nick's ParentsConnect newsletter for YOU & Mommy this week..
"Baby is learning all about cause and effect now. He'll love experimenting with his newfound knowledge by dropping his bottle and waiting for you to bend over and pick it up. He'll get a kick out of doing it again and again and again and you'll think it's utterly adorable ... the first seven times and then ..."
You don't usually have a bottle, but you LOVE to drop ANYTHING ELSE that I hand you during feeding times. I put something your little tray, you grab it, nonchalantly swing your arm to one side, and presto, DROP whatever it is you've grabbed. So mummy picks it up for you. AND YOU DO IT AGAIN!
Over and over and over.
SOMETIMES you look for what you've dropped, but most of the time you're content with having your SLAVE pick it up for you. :P
"You never imagined catching up on sleep would be more important than catching up on reality TV. "
Baby, you have put a serious crimp in mommy's TV watching. I never watch TV anymore, except for in the mornings when we're in the kitchen making breakfast/feeding you breakfast.
*Besides, YOU are way more interesting than anything on TV*
Anyway, thing is, the TV in the kitchen is a small old tv that sits on top of the fridge. It has no satellite feed to it, and it has no HDTV capabilities whatsoever. Just your generic old TV. Which means that it can only pick up ONE station. MOST of the time, we're watching so much Bonanza and Gunsmoke reruns that I'm thinking your first words won't be "Dada" or "Mama", but rather, "Paw" and "Maw".

TOYS!!
So daddy bought you a Fisher Price Jumperoo today.
From the moment we put you in there, you were jumping gleefully, playing with all the stuff in front of you and generally making a racket :) You haven't figured out that the seat swivels yet, or that there are other "goodies" on the other side once you are able to swivel there, but man, you were jumping your heart out. Will try to get a good video or pic, Mr. Jumping Bean.
Also, we got some replacement toys in the mail last week because the ones that you had were part of a recall. Oooooo... Now you have 2 Mr. Salt/Pepper Shakers and 2 Mr. Measuring Spoons!

Only have time for highlights....
9/5 Saturday
Today you rolled from your back to your tummy! Wow.
9/4 Friday
You've started kicking your legs during bath time, and chuckling when mommy goes, "Oh! splash splash splash!" You have also, in the last few days, started making high pitched noises, and singing and talking.
eg:
Jaxon : *shriek shriek shrieky shriek shriek*
Daddy: "Good grief, what are you, 'dolphin boy'???
Mummy bought you a nuby sippy cup with a soft silicone spout and 2 non slip grip handles. Yay, big boy cup! Mummy also had a massive migraine today, and daddy ended up having to take care of you and get you to sleep. :)
Reaching and Grabbing! (Watch Out, Hair!)
Peek-a-boo
When you get naked for your bath, daddy loves to go, "Ooooo cottage cheese butttttt!!!" hehehe
8/30 Sunday
Dearest Babyness, you turned 5 months today. Can you believe it? :)
