School and A New Toy!

Hey, Science!

And what better science than Hands-On Science!

We got out the Hand Lenses and the Book Reader Light and observed, observed, observed.

THEN, it was time to whip out THIS baby.
Oooooo yeah.

I know, it only cost  $19.99 on Amazon ( Prime ),
and really, I got it for "free" from all the KICKS I had been doing on Shopkick and getting points and redeeming Amazon giftcards for.
Wait...it could even have been from Ibotta! Yes, every little bit helps.
(yes, shameless plugs)
We got to observe onion skin cells and scallion stalk "cells"!

Then the little boy got a little adventurous with the new toy :)
And we learned about looking up the Index in an Atlas :)

Folding Clothes

You love to offer to help, and whenever I get overwhelmed, I would be sure to take you up on those offers....besides, it would be good practice for the future :)

Just Barely

You are growing at the speed of light, but fortunately don't need to hunch much when we decide to use the car to bring home some plywood for a project :)

G4 W2 Entertain Thyself, Child.

We had to go with Daddy to Lowe's the other day to get some supplies for a project we were working on, and part of the time we were waiting by the Gazebos.. which is our favorite place to hang out if we ever had to wait in Lowe's.

Of course, then when we have to go be with Daddy to pick this or the other out, you find ways of keeping yourself occupied.

A Minecraft Breakfast

Oh, before I forget, after I cut your hair, you said, "Now, instead of coming out to here *indicating the sides*, it now comes UP to HERE *indicating highness of the mini bee hive*

:D

Anyhow, these days you basically get your own breakfast while I am attending to other things, and this day, you have decided to to have breakfast in the theme of Minecraft.

Hence the Creeper Apple and the Steve Sandwich :)

Oh, and isn't this little fox just delightful?

The Wonders of Technology

I wish I had had all this technology at my fingertips when I was your age, little boy.

There are so many things that help make concepts clearer in a fun way.

One of them, is the virtual geoboard :)

THIS website is your favorite for the Geoboardedness.

The Amazing Glowing Ice Orb

We borrowed the Star Wars Maker Lab book from the Library the other day, and you have already bookmarked a bunch of projects you want us to do together.

The first one we have done is the Glowing Orb of Science ( well, it wasn't really named that, but.. ), where we had to fill a balloon with water, leave it in the freezer for 9 hours, and then make a little hole at the bottom where it was weakest, and let the water drain out, leaving an outer shell or crust.

Then, we got 2 glow sticks, "broke/crackled" them till they got all glowy, and shoved those into the little hole, et, VOILA.

The Mad Scientist : Test #243

is the name that I have given this fantastic work of art :)

STEM Cat Approves

You had to come up with a solution using what was around you the other day - building a bridge that was a certain distance / length, and which can hold up a plastic cup of about 20 pennies.

So this is what you came up with, and Silky very patiently watched you closely and seemed to show his approval, if not a little curiosity about the whole thing.

Can't do school without the Laptop

A lot of our resources are online, what with e-books and websites and what not.

Usually we read our textbooks, watch our Discovery Education or Brainpop videos, and then you're off to do your work on your own. I suppose in a pinch you might call it "homework", but really, they are just assignments / work to reinforce what we had just read about or watched.

Magformers, Magnets in Disguise.....

Do you think that one day in the near or far future, that you would be able to interpret what you made with the magnets?

I can tell you now, one of them is a very spectacular turtle :)

G3 W52 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't rejoice too much as yet. Next week we begin a new "Chapter".  I know there hasn't been an actual "summer break" for you, BUT NEITHER HAS THERE BEEN ONE FOR ME!

WAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Anyway, back to your regular programming.
The obligatory sneaked-in-selfie..

This week we broke out the Snap Circuits to learn about well, circuits.

I will need to expand on our beginner's pack pretty soon.

Look at that delight :)
We tried out different objects to see if they were conductors or insulators.

I hope they keep the saved files at the library computer stations for a long time, because you have saved so many of your works of art in there.  :)

And sunflower seeds during Monopoly Gamer?
Oh, the joy :)
