G4 W7 Science!

You absolutely love it when we have a lesson that involves scientific experiments and hands-on-edness, and this time, it was observing root hairs.
Once again, Kitchen Science was what we could muster up, but it was still as good, and we took the opportunity to whip out the little digital microscope again to put it to good use.

It impressive to be able to see the little root hairs that a hand lens would have not been adequate enough to have a good picture of.
Then we crushed the root hairs of one of the onion plants and put both of them into bottles, and put in the same amount of water.

At the end of a couple of days, we checked them again, and the water level in the plant that still had its root hairs had gone day more than the one which had had its root hairs smooshed.

Hurray!
