Daddy calls this your "grown up" face. :)

Ow.
When you're sleepy and nursing, sometimes you "gum" at me as you try to fall asleep. Now that you are teething, that is getting to be quite treacherous.

I can't help it..
if I am a first time parent and don't want my child to miss out on ANYTHING, and that includes toys, toys and more toys. So far we've been pretty good about not just getting anything and everything out there. I mean, it seems like every other toy out there either beeps or flashes or sings or does SOMETHING automated.
It can get QUITE annoying.
So I thought we'd go "old school" and went ahead and got you some "stacking rings" and a "shape sorter" thingy.
Right now there isn't really much stacking or sorting going on... You're doing more like unstacking and banging together and picking the shapes out of the container or dumping them, with a healthy bit of "gumming" going on.
As time goes by, I'm sure you'll figure it out, but right now I'd like to think that you're "thinking outside the box" and developing your grasps and working those little hand muscles and improving your dexterity, hand eye coordination etc. etc.

Adventures in Finger Foods
Yesterday, I experimented with giving you some bread to hold/eat on your own, and you did admirably well! And then, of course, you mashed the bread into your hair..
Oooo, and we got a picture of the infamous first tooth-to-be! Woohoo! You've been doing really good on that front. I haven't really noticed any "extra" fussiness, but of course, you may be witholding the melodrama for when the tooth peeks out a little more. Oh well, we'll take it one day at a time.

Real Food
Every night, before I go to bed, I make an entry into my "Jaxon Diary" on the day's goings-on. I haven't been really good at transfering them over to the blog, but I hope to do so from now. Anyway, here's from the last couple of days..
10/19 Monday
Yesterday, while waiting for dinner time, I got a piece of bread and started breaking little pieces for you to try chewing on.. you didn't protest when I put them in your mouth ( before, you would have made an awful face and turned away ). You looked like you were enjoying bread! Then at dinner time, I fed you some of your puffs and you ATE THEM!
Today, for dinner, we had carrot and potato soup with ayam masak merah, squash and rice. I gave you little pieces of rice, potatoes, squash and carrot, and you ate them all!!!!! Actual proper "human food" !!!
Have I also mentioned that you had started since a couple of weeks ago, to actually look for stuff that you drop? Khamazing.
10/18 Sunday
I forgot to put socks on you today for church.. my bad :P You wore your denim jacket and looked mighty cute :P Your restaurant high chair cover came in the mail yesterday and so we tried it out at lunch at Henry D's today. It worked great! Yay! I think you've finally figured out a little bit how to use the sippy cup. Hurray!
Also, during your bath today, you kept hitting the water to hear the splash splash sound and then play with the little bubbles that you made with all that splashing!
Nowadays when I open up a book for us to read, you don't grab it to chew on it rightaway.. instead, you try to rake at the pictures in the book almost like as if you didn't quite comprehend that those were 2D pictures and not real objects. :)
You love to play with the tags on things instead of the actual toys sometimes..

Germaphobe
We have a portable booster high chair for you which we bring to Grandad's for Letti Thursday and which for the rest of the time, is latched to a chair at the dining table at home, and is where mummy feeds you breakfast and dinner.
However, we also eat at Rosa's with almost all of the extended family for Taco Tuesday on a weekly basis. So, instead of having to do/undo the chair each time, or having to wipe down restaurant high chairs each and every time, I went ahead and bought .. get this.. a RESTAURANT HIGH CHAIR COVER for you from ebay. It folds up conveniently into this little bag that we can leave in the car. As it is, we leave your shopping cart cover in its little bag in the car :)

Pumpkin Patch
A couple of weeks ago, daddy and I brought you to the ( only ) pumpkin patch in town. You had had your shots the day before and wasn't feeling too good but you are always curious about everything around you, and so you were looking around and soaking it all up.
Going on a hay ride on the back of a big tractor trailer
You won't believe how many shots it took to get one where you were smiling :)
There's just way too many things to see around here :)
Must have been the prickly hay... or not feeling well from shots
I don't blame you. I'd freak out too if I had to get that close to Deputy Dawg here....
My Boys
Yeah, mummy's round face blends in with the pumpkins :)
More Pictures over at Mummy's OTHER blog .....

Table Manners
AND, usually halfway through our meal, sometimes while being FED, you would start grunting and your face would turn a little red from "exertion". Daddy gets the most incredulous looks on his face when you do that. :P
Jaxon : *nghhhhhh ugghh unngggghhhhhHHH mmnggghhhh*
Daddy : Good grief, boy, do you have to be so obvious???
Mummy : *chuckle*

Fun in the "Sun"
We played out in the yard today !
We had bought a bed spread thing from the Salvation Army store just for this purpose too. You were still feeling the after effects of the shots you had yesterday, and feeling a little out of sorts, but otherwise you were quite enthralled with being outside. More photos on momma's regular blog HERE

6 Months Well Child Visit
You had your 6 month visit with the doctor today. It all went well and you cried when the lady gave you your shots ( 4 of them including the first half of the flu vaccine ), but only for a minute. My Brave Boy! Here's your stats at the moment
Weight : 20 pounds
Length : 27 inches
I don't think I caught the head circumference. The doctor said that you were around the 75th percentile for all the measurements. We had been joking that you had lost some jowls! :)
The doctor said that we could try to feed you finger foods now. You had been doing the 1st foods since you were 4 months, and started with the 2nd foods about a week ago. We bought some of the Walmart "puff" dealies for you, and tried to break off a minute piece to feed you with it. You made SUCH a face and didn't like the texture or something. I guess we'll come back to it when we've done more 2nd and 3rd foods. You DID, however, like raking them around on your tray, and practising your pincer grasp with the little A shaped puffs.
Getting ready to be weighed and such
Having some Daddy time while waiting for the Dr.
