Bed Time Rituals
It started off with a very simple and brief "Good night".
Then, it became "Bye, Goodnight".
After that, it was "Bye, Goodnight, Sweet Dreams."
Now it has evolved to "Bao Bao (hugs), Kiss, Bye, Goodnight, Sweet Dreams!"

Little Boy Milestones
Since you're not officially in school yet, there's really no official "summer slide" either, as every day is a chance to play and learn.
You didn't use to like coloring very much, and would insist I do most of it. However, these days, when I bring out the day's work sheets to do, you are really enthusiastic - even if you still DO get me to help you do some of the coloring. AND you are getting better and better at attempting to color within the lines. I mean, just look at that face, full of concentration!
I love it that you are so eager to do your worksheets and work at crafts and whatnot.... and some days, you would start to tell me, "Mummy, I want to do my book", and start getting it off the bookshelf by yourself!
It's been interesting to watch the progression of the different pencil grips you've had. I didn't take closeup pictures of your grips before, but I thought I'd start and see how it goes from there.
Of course, then there are the other ways that you are working those little fine motor muscles.. like your Tangrams book, which we got from Sam's one time. ( Good thing it comes with a book of solutions! )

Constructive Occupation
Now that we are no longer going over to Grandad's house twice a day and trying to get all kinds of stuff done in between, there's a little bit more time to play around with, as far as play and "school" is concerned. There's not really any real structure to what we are doing.. after all, you are still only barely 3, but I try to look at all the various online resources and homeschooling blogs that I can, and there is such an ocean of information out there...
You love to paint, and are often asking for the different paints that we have - the do-a-dot set, the Crayola Paint brush pens, and the different tubs of paints. Which reminds me, I need to go by the Dollar Tree and get some more supplies!
Another good ol' fall back is Play Doh.. especially when there are always endless new ways to play with them. Recently you have discovered that stamping different things onto a flattened playdoh yields different exciting patterns!
We have a bunch of mismatched magnetic alphabet and numbers set, which we keep together, and I thought it would be fun for you to do something you hadn't done in a while, i.e. magnetic dishwasher letters!
Last but not least, even though the hp Touchpad and its app store doesn't come close to other tablets/systems, there's still a bunch of free apps which are wonderfully done and which you enjoy ( er, other than the Nyan Cat, LOL ) ....and of course there's also sites like Starfall and MightyBook.com etc. :) Here's a note for you, though... I had to delete my Angry Birds from the tablet because you turn into a total and complete FIEND after you've played with that game for a while.. and I think the same goes for the talking cat and dog apps. Yoiks.

And yet, I made you an Angry Bird open faced sandwich for breakfast the other day :)

A Hairy Tale
Your daddy is very often in awe about how wavy/curly your hair can be, because he INSISTS that the Asian straight-as-an-arrow hair is stubbornly dominant.
However, he fails to remember ( now that he is cleanly shorn all the time ), that his own hair has/had TIGHT TIGHT close-to-the-head-TIGHT curls.
And hence, TADA, I present to thee, the product of the random mixing of our genes...
