Taking out the Trash
You often walk out with me when I go get the trash/mail/newspaper. This week, however, you wanted to be the one dragging back the trash can.

Compassion
We were over at Uncle Lin's house the other day, and we saw a Monarch butterfly that didn't look like it would be able to finish the trek down south for the winter.
You gently placed it on the hood of Uncle Lin's car and placed some leaves on it to "keep it warm".
Sweet boy.

Grade 2 Week 11
We did all kinds of things this week, but you were very interested in the plant experiments that we did for Science.
At the library, they were had a craft table and of course you were instantly drawn to it.
You made a ninja!
Where's the Ninja?
This week we used the seedlings that we had grown in the past week and used it to determine how plants grow in relation to where light was.
Behind the Scenes
Thanksgiving 2016 :) My sweet sweet boy, so eager to help mummy and be a part of making Thanksgiving dinner :)

Grade 2 Week 10
We had a visitor at school this week.
A chicken in a minecart.
The chicken got adventurous and decided he was going to do an impersonation of Han Solo in Carbonite.
I think he was pretty good at it.
We drew our observations of seeds and how they were disseminated.
Yup, we used our descriptive vocabulary.
Then we checked up on the seeds we had planted for root observations, and turned them upside down to see how the roots would respond.
You were thrilled to see them all twisty turny in their quest to conform to gravity.
You even answered that it was in their DNA to know which way was down.
*kabooshhh - mind blown*
During one of your breaks, you decided that you would turn into a pillow for fun.
I think it was pretty convincing, aye?
We did our times tables ( I even got to be part of the work you were doing )
I improvised a little on the Number Train activity, and you loved it!
Oh, and with the changing of seasons, the sun has started coming in at an awkward angle, hitting our poor eyeballs and making it hard to do work. Soooo the window got a DIY makeover.
It worked! It diffused the sunlight, giving us enough light while keeping the glare off of us. Hurray!
And we continued our love of reading...

Playground Time
I've noticed that we have hardly any Fall season here in Texas, but when there is that tiny window of nice weather, we make sure to ask Daddy if he wouldn't mind stopping by the playground when we are out.
You are way tall and big for your age, but inside you are still this little 7 year old. Sometimes it seems like you should be all gung ho about some of the things they have at the playground, but your little inner 7 year old says..."er, maybe when I'm a little older.."
We strolled over to the volleyball court, and drew in the sand and you made me guess what you had drawn..
Then, we went over to the "famous" tree with the low hanging branches and I'm guessing that's the only tree that would would even consider climbing at this time..
One thing that you wanted me to see you do was the monkey bars thingy, which you had always been trepidatious at attempting that, so it was quite the milestone.
Before we left the playground bit, we played a few rounds of Tic Tac Toe, and noticed for the first time that there was Braille on the game "pieces"! Hurray!
Just as we were leaving, we noticed that someone was practising their moves over at the rink. We decided to stop by and watch the guy for a few minutes before going on our merry way.
